4.9 What should I put as the Headline?

Written by Meesha Price

Generally speaking, your headlines should include:

  • A key USP

  • A newsworthy event

  • A call to action

  • A discount code, if applicable

Example: Juliet Period Launches a Customisable Monthly Essentials Box — Save 20% With an Exclusive Reader Code

Do:

  • Include your brand name — it's the strongest driver of acceptance.

  • Keep it short and write it as a statement, not a question.

  • Write any discount into the sentence itself, not in brackets at the end.

Avoid over-the-top words like "transform" or "boost", and defensive ones like "proven", "certified" or "guaranteed".

While it's important for a headline to be attention grabbing, be sure to think about what's appealing to both the publishers you're pitching to and their audiences. And always ensure your content is accurate!
